In the heart of Bihar’s Bhojpur district, Gauri Tripathi has emerged as a trailblazer, defying societal norms and empowering women through her unique role as a driver.
For the past several years, Gauri has been driving a passenger vehicle for a 10-kilometre route, ensuring school children safely reach their destination. In a field largely dominated by men, Gauri has broken barriers, symbolizing resilience, equality, and women’s empowerment.
Gauri’s journey began in 2016, when she established RR Shiksha Niketan, a private school in Kasap village, aimed at providing education to underprivileged children. The school quickly became a safe haven for many, with children traveling from distant areas to attend. Initially, Gauri arranged for a driver to pick up and drop the students, but a shocking incident changed everything. One day, the driver, under the influence of alcohol, crashed the vehicle into a pole. Although the children were unharmed, the accident was a wake-up call for Gauri, highlighting the need for a responsible person behind the wheel.
Determined to ensure the children’s safety, Gauri decided to take matters into her own hands. She learned to drive and began personally transporting the students, despite the curious and sometimes judgmental stares from the community. Gauri shared that, although people often watched her with surprise, she never let their opinions deter her. Today, Gauri drives the school vehicle every day, confidently transporting children and passengers alike.
Her inspiring journey has become a source of motivation for other women, proving that no job is too big or too small for someone with commitment and self-belief. Gauri’s message is clear: women can excel in any field if they are determined. Her story serves as a powerful reminder that with courage and resilience, barriers can be broken, and dreams can be realized. Gauri Tripathi is not just driving a vehicle; she is driving change and inspiring others to follow suit.
