The Ministry of Education has issued a notification regarding the UNESCO International Centre of Martial Arts (ICM) Martial Arts Education Prize for 2024. Nominations are being solicited for individuals, groups, or organizations that have made significant contributions to social development, including youth and women empowerment. The prize aims to recognize initiatives that promote youth development and engagement through martial arts education. Interested parties can submit their nominations online at www.icmprize.org from March 20 to May 20, 2024. The winner of the prize will receive a monetary award of 10,000 USD, along with additional benefits, as per reports by NDTV.
Since 2021, the International Centre of Martial Arts has been administering the UNESCO ICM Martial Arts Education Prize with the objective of gathering and supporting exemplary martial arts education initiatives worldwide. According to an official notification from the Ministry of Education, UNESCO has called for nominations for the 2024 UNESCO ICM for Youth Development and Engagement. Applications must be forwarded to the Indian National Commission for Cooperation with UNESCO (INCCU) by April 30, 2024. Subsequently, the nominations will be submitted to UNESCO for consideration.
Eligibility for the prize is open to individuals, groups, or organizations that have made notable contributions in various areas related to martial arts education. These include assisting youth in overcoming underprivileged circumstances, promoting women's rights and social engagement through martial arts education, fostering a safe environment in local communities through martial arts activities, and helping socially-underprivileged individuals develop self-reliance while overcoming challenges through martial arts education.
