A recent development has sent shockwaves through the medical education sector as an MBBS student, Abhishek Gupta, was apprehended for allegedly appearing in the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) in place of an aspirant, Suraj Gurjar.
The arrest came alongside three others, including Gupta's collegemate Ravikant alias Ravi Meena, Suraj Gurjar himself, and his brother Rahul Gurjar.
The intricate web of deceit unfolded when authorities discovered that Abhishek Gupta, a student at a government medical college, had taken the NEET exam on behalf of Suraj Gurjar. This fraudulent act took place at the Master Adityendra School exam centre under the Mathura Gate police station area. Further investigations revealed that the impersonation scheme was orchestrated by Gupta's accomplice, Ravikant.
The motive behind this elaborate deception was financial gain, as Rahul Gurjar had reportedly negotiated a deal worth Rs 10 lakh with Ravikant to secure a favorable NEET score for Suraj Gurjar. An advance payment of Rs 1 lakh was made as part of this illicit agreement.
Bharatpur Superintendent of Police (SP) Mridul Kachawa provided insights into the ongoing investigation, confirming that four individuals involved in the fraud have been arrested, while two others, Amit alias Bunty and Dayaram, are currently under interrogation and are expected to be arrested soon.
The gravity of the situation is reflected in the legal actions taken, with Abhishek Gupta placed under three-day police remand after being produced before a court. Additionally, prior cases of cheating against Ravikant at Ajmer's Kotwali police station have come to light, shedding further light on his history of fraudulent activities.
