The Tata Cornell University Scholarship, which is owned in common by Cornell University and the Tata Education and Development Trust, is granted to assist Indian students pursuing their studies at the University. It was established by Ratan Tata in 2008. It is funded by a $25 million endowment donated by the Tata Education and Development Trust where 20 students are chosen annually and are given this scholarship.
Eligible criteria
To qualify them for the Tata Scholarship, prospective applicants ought to fulfill certain specifications:
--They should be Indian citizens with a valid passport; others who are dual citizens or of other national origin other than Indian are not eligible. Special attention will be accorded to students who have graduated from Indian secondary school.
--Applicants must apply for full-time undergraduate study at Cornell University's Ithaca campus. First-year undergraduate students and direct transfer students are eligible to apply.
--Although Cornell University is test-optional through 2025, exceptionally high SAT or ACT scores are strongly recommended. Indian applicants must also have an IELTS score of 7.5 and above in order to be qualified for Cornell's undergraduate application as well as this scholarship.
How to Apply?
Step 1: Interested prospective first-year students who intend to study a full-time undergraduate degree from Cornell University would begin by applying. Prospective students who require financial aid have to complete the College Scholarship Service (CSS) Profile.
Step 2: Second, you'll need to provide all financial data necessary to verify your need. That would be preferably family income reports, tax returns, employer statements, and bank statements, as outlined in the CSS Profile. Outside of the total application are typically academic records, transcript, recommendations, and personal statement.

Your CSS Profile, International Student Financial Aid Application (ISFAA), and other financial aid forms are reviewed by the Cornell Financial Aid Office to determine your financial aid award.

What does the scholarship cover?
The scholarship pays the recipient's tuition and fees, reducing the cost burden as well as the necessary fees, room and board, books/supplies, and personal expenses to Cornell's published cost of attendance.
It can be extended for four years (eight semesters) of undergraduate education if the recipient maintains a blemishless academic record (3.0 minimum GPA). For ten-semester mandatory enrollment programs, e.g., B.Arch, eight semesters of grant giving can be utilized.
