A major initiative to promote STEM collaboration between India and Australia has been marked by the awarding of fellowships to 15 Indian women researchers. These fellowships, conferred by the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India, in partnership with the Australian Academy of Science, have been designed to provide opportunities for international research and skill enhancement in STEM fields.

Selected researchers will be enabled by these fellowships, which range from 2-6 months in duration, to collaborate with Australian universities and research institutions. Diverse fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) will be addressed through the projects undertaken. Knowledge sharing, expertise development, and engagement in cutting-edge research will be facilitated for the awardees.

A competitive selection process was conducted, with more than 100 applications reviewed from across India. The chosen candidates were selected based on their academic qualifications, research experience, and the strength of their research proposals. By supporting these researchers, a significant opportunity for advancing their careers and contributing to innovative projects in STEM has been provided.

A statement was made by a DST spokesperson expressing confidence in the program’s impact.
