NALSAR in Hyderabad saw students, alumni, and faculty join a global wave of protests, demanding that their institution cut ties with two Israeli universities in response to Israel's actions in Gaza. This action aligns with the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) movement.

The Student Bar Council of NALSAR spearheaded the initiative, drafting a petition signed by 360 individuals—275 students, 70 alumni, and 12 faculty members. The petition demands the administration condemn Israel’s activities in Palestine and sever all academic and economic associations with Tel Aviv University and the Radzyner School of Law.

The petition highlights the call for an "unequivocal condemnation of the Israeli action in Palestine" and the termination of international exchange programs with the aforementioned Israeli institutions. This reflects a broader trend of academic activism seen worldwide.

In the United States, significant student protests have led to thousands of arrests at prominent universities, including Columbia, Yale, Princeton, UCLA, NYU, and the University of Texas. At least 20 other campuses in the US are also witnessing similar protests for the Palestinian cause.

The protests are not limited to the US. Universities across France, Kuwait, Japan, Australia, Egypt, the United Kingdom, Spain, Germany, Yemen, Lebanon, and Argentina have also seen similar activism. In India, Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) experienced student protests significant enough to reschedule the US ambassador’s interaction, emphasizing that "genociders are not welcome."
