On Monday afternoon, August 19, two visually impaired students fell onto the Metro tracks at Nadaprabhu Kempegowda Interchange Metro station.

The incident occurred when M Bhuvan, an 18-year-old first-year BBA student at Vijaya College, and his friend Yogesh mistakenly placed their guide canes in the wrong direction while switching to the Purple Line. Bhuvan sustained minor scratches on his right hand while Yogesh was unharmed.

The duo and their friend Ravikumar are regular Metro commuters and have always found their travel safe. Bhuvan recounted that there were no security staff around to guide them at the time, which contributed to the mishap. Fortunately, the public quickly intervened, preventing Ravikumar from falling onto the tracks, as reported by Edex Live.

Metro officials promptly rushed to the scene, providing first aid to Bhuvan and ensuring the trio's safety. The students were taken to the station controller's room, where they were given refreshments and spent about half an hour before continuing their journey to Atiguppe.

A Metro source noted that tactile tiles are installed at all stations to assist the visually impaired, and this is the first incident involving such commuters. Despite the scare, Bhuvan stated that the incident has taught them to be more cautious but hasn't deterred them from using the Metro in the future.
