Two successful productions in one month by the newly launched theatre academy in Bandel. In a remarkable achievement, Bandel Barood, a newly formed theatre company, successfully staged two brand new productions, 'Worthless Education' (Apadartha Bidya) and 'Enactors Preparation' (Obhinetar Prostuti), on August 2nd at Chinsurah Rabindravaban. Despite heavy rainfall, the event drew an impressive audience of around 200 people.
Worthless Education, a satirical comedy inspired by Eugene Ionesco's "Rhinoceros", was written, produced, and directed by Arpan Dutta, a researcher in Physics at the University of Turku, Finland. The play featured a talented cast, including Taranga Banerjee, co-founder of Bandel Barood, Kausani Mitra, who also served as production manager, and eight other actors.
Taranga Banerjee also showcased his solo play, 'Enactors Preparation', a psychological drama he wrote and directed. The event was hosted by Ujjal Kanti Sarkar, founder of Anwesha Bandel, and attended by renowned theatre practitioner and trainer Prasanta Sutradhar.
The audience, comprising both theatre enthusiasts and intellectuals, highly appreciated the efforts of Bandel Barood. The company has received two call-shows, cementing its presence in the theatre scene.
