Himachal Pradesh is taking a big step to improve its education system by recalling teachers and officers who are working in other states. Education Minister Rohit Thakur recently announced that these educators will return to help boost the quality of education within the state. This decision is part of a larger plan aimed at improving schools and providing better opportunities for students.
According to a Hindustan Times report, Minister Thakur shared several new initiatives. One exciting program will allow outstanding students from classes 10 and 12 to go on educational trips both within India and abroad. This program aims to expand the horizons of bright students, giving them a chance to see the world and learn from different experiences. A total of 20 students will be chosen from each class, while an additional 10 students will be selected for excelling in sports, cultural activities, the National Cadet Corps (NCC), National Service Scheme (NSS), and Bharat Scouts and Guides.
The minister also spoke about balancing the distribution of teachers across schools. To solve the issue of teacher shortages, the department plans to study successful models used in states like Assam, Chhattisgarh, and Gujarat. This is part of an effort to attract more students to government schools and ensure that every student has access to good teachers.
Additionally, new systems are being introduced to keep track of teacher attendance. By next month, all 15,000 schools in the state will have biometric attendance systems. Currently, online attendance tracking is already in place for 11,000 schools, and this step will make it easier to ensure that teachers are present in the classroom.
Minister Thakur highlighted the need for coordination among different government departments to raise educational standards. This move comes after a directive from May 2023 that stopped teacher deputations, so that educators can focus on teaching, which is their main responsibility.
To bring more discipline to the school year, the education minister also set deadlines for school and college annual functions, which must be completed before November 30 and February 20, respectively. These changes show the state’s dedication to improving education and creating a brighter future for its students.
