Delhi's education sector is set to receive a significant boost with the government allocating a whopping Rs 16,396 crore in its budget for the 2024-25 fiscal year. This move reflects the administration's strong dedication to providing high-quality education to the city's residents.

During the budget presentation in the Delhi Assembly, Finance Minister Atishi emphasized the government's priority of improving education standards. She highlighted the remarkable transformation of government schools under Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's leadership, stating, "Over the past decade, Delhi government schools have undergone a remarkable evolution. We have doubled the education budget for the national capital. Today, we are proposing a substantial allocation of Rs 16,396 crore towards education in Delhi."

Atishi praised the efforts of former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia in driving these improvements and acknowledged the challenges faced by government schools before the current administration took charge.

The focus on teacher training was also underscored, with nearly 48,000 teachers already regularized and plans to fill 7,000 more vacancies underway, as mentioned in a report by Mid Day.

Notably, student performance in government schools has seen a notable uptick, surpassing that of private institutions. Additionally, the government has expanded the capacity of state-run universities by 20,000 seats, accommodating a total of 93,000 students.
