Indian Air Force Announces AFCAT (2) 2024 notification for SSC courses commencing in July 2025

The Indian Air Force (IAF) has recently unveiled the much-anticipated notification for AFCAT (2) 2024, marking a significant opportunity for aspirants aiming to join the prestigious Flying Branch and Ground Duty (Technical and Non-Technical) Branches under the Short Service Commission (SSC).

Online applications are now open for courses commencing in July 2025, including the NCC Special Entry Scheme for the Flying Branch. The deadline for submission of online applications is set for 30th June 2025.

 

**Eligibility Criteria:**

Candidates must meet specific eligibility conditions to qualify for the AFCAT (2) 2024 examination. This includes being a citizen of India. The age criteria vary for different branches:

- Flying Branch and NCC Special Entry: 20 to 24 years as of 01 July 2025.

- Ground Duty (Technical & Non-Technical) Branch: 20 to 26 years as of 01 July 2025.

 

Marital status also plays a role, as candidates below 25 years of age must be unmarried at the time of course commencement.

 

**Educational Qualifications:**

For the Flying Branch, candidates should have passed with a minimum of 50% marks in Maths and Physics at the 10+2 level and graduation with at least 60% marks. Similar academic standards apply to the Ground Duty (Technical) Branch, while the Non-Technical Branch requires a graduate degree in any discipline from a recognized university with a minimum of 60% marks.

 

**Exam Dates and Syllabus:**

The AFCAT (2) 2024 exam is scheduled to take place in August, with specific dates yet to be announced. The syllabus covers key areas such as English, General Awareness, Numerical Ability, and Reasoning & Military Aptitude Test.

 

**Preparation Strategies:**

Aspiring candidates are advised to refer to the AFCAT – The First Step Book, which offers comprehensive sections and practice questions across various subjects.
