On the opening day of Forest Week (14th to 21st July), Anwesha Quiz Club Bandel organized a distinctive workshop at Bandel Mukto Moncho, drawing enthusiastic participation from students across schools, colleges, and universities.
They were hosted by "Gaachhwala" Dilip Kumar Mitra and his associates Amit Kumar Haldar and Basudeb Ghosh—the workshop aimed to educate Anwesha members on seed propagation and nurturing saplings from growth to maturity.
Dilip Kumar Mitra, renowned as a teacher and passionate advocate for trees, engaged actively with the young attendees, patiently addressing their queries and sharing insights on sapling care. He distributed seeds and saplings among the participants, encouraging them to implement the workshop's teachings practically.
The interactive session saw lively discussions as Mitra guided the students through various aspects of nurturing saplings into fully grown trees, prompting them to share their perspectives and experiences. This spontaneous exchange of ideas highlighted the workshop's significance in fostering environmental awareness among the youth.
Mitra's initiative, including establishing a "Briksha Bank" to promote tree planting as a collective movement, inspired students to take proactive roles in environmental conservation. The presence of social and cultural activists Gouranga Mukherjee, Amit Haldar (founder of the Bandel Astronomical and Geographical Society), and Dibyajyoti Das (from Paschimbanga Bijnan Moncho) further enriched the workshop, emphasizing the community's shared responsibility towards nature.
The workshop during Forest Week served as a platform for Anwesha members to deepen their understanding of environmental stewardship and to actively contribute to sustainability efforts within their communities.
