National Testing Agency (NTA) released the city and centre-wise results for the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test for Undergraduate (NEET-UG) 2024, adhering to a Supreme Court directive, according to a PTI report. The Supreme Court of India heard a series of petitions addressing irregularities in the NEET-UG 2024 examination on June 18.

The bench, comprising Chief Justice of India (CJI) DY Chandrachud, Justices JB Pardiwala, and Manoj Misra, issued an order mandating the NTA to publish the results detailing city-wise and centre-wise data by 5 pm on July 20. The NTA executed This release ahead of schedule—the court's decision aimed to ensure transparency and address concerns about potential discrepancies in the examination process.

During the proceedings, Senior Advocate Narender Hooda, representing the petitioners, argued that the NTA had not released the complete results, hampered the ability to verify the examination’s fairness. Hooda emphasized that at the very least, results for the approximately one lakh qualified students should have been disclosed.

The petitioners highlighted the need for comprehensive results to investigate irregularities in specific cities or centres. The NEET-UG 2024 was plagued by allegations of paper leaks and other systemic issues, leading to demands for a re-examination. The test was conducted on May 5 across 4,750 centres in 571 cities, including 14 international locations, with over 24 lakh candidates participating.

The release of the city and centre-wise results is expected to provide greater clarity and address the concerns raised in the petitions.
