The National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) is set to introduce a new binary accreditation framework for colleges and universities this September. This innovative system, recommended by the Radhakrishnan Committee, emphasizes processes, outcomes, and impact rather than traditional inputs.

The new binary accreditation system aims to streamline and simplify the accreditation process. Key features include reducing cycle time and fees and eliminating physical peer team visits, which have traditionally been a part of the accreditation process. Instead, peer institutions will conduct data validation, ensuring a more objective and transparent assessment.

The framework comprises 10 attributes with specific metrics tailored for universities, autonomous colleges, and affiliated colleges. These attributes are designed to comprehensively evaluate the quality of education institutions provide, focusing on measurable outcomes and impacts.
