In a transformative move for its education sector, the Arunachal Pradesh government has announced a substantial ₹2139 crore budget allocation for the fiscal year 2024-25. This significant funding boost is aimed at enhancing the quality and accessibility of education in the state, aligning closely with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 goals.

The budget outlines several key initiatives to improve educational infrastructure and support students. The allocation includes creating 30 new government higher secondary and senior secondary schools. This expansion is expected to address the academic needs of students across various regions, especially in remote and underserved areas.

In addition to new school construction, the budget emphasizes upgrading infrastructure in existing institutions. This includes improvements to engineering colleges, model degree colleges, and women’s colleges, ensuring they meet modern educational standards and provide a conducive learning environment.

A significant budget highlight is the introduction of fee waivers to make higher education more accessible. The government has announced a 100% fee waiver for students enrolled in undergraduate courses at Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), a move expected to relieve financial pressures and encourage more students to pursue technical education. Additionally, there will be a 75% waiver on training fees for commercial pilot licenses, opening up opportunities for students aspiring to enter aviation.

The budget also introduces innovative scholarship programs, including the Dulari Kaniya Scheme. This initiative is designed to support girl children pursuing graduation or professional courses, reflecting a commitment to gender equality and educational empowerment.

As per India Today reports, the new budget is poised to enhance the educational landscape in Arunachal Pradesh significantly. By investing in infrastructure, providing financial support, and launching targeted scholarship programs, the state government aims to create a more inclusive and robust educational framework. This comprehensive approach is expected to provide more significant opportunities for students and educators alike, fostering an environment conducive to academic and professional success.
