Four Law College Students Die In Padur Bypass Car Crash

Four students from a private law college tragically lost their lives in a road accident at Padur on OMR in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, on Thursday, August 1. The accident occurred when their car, driven by a fellow student, Siva, flipped multiple times before stopping on the road.

The Pallikaranai traffic investigation wing identified the deceased as Mahi Swetha (21), Pavithra (21), Caroline Paul (21), and Lingeshwaran (23), according to a report by The New Indian Express. The police reported that the driver, Siva, was in critical condition.

According to eyewitnesses, the group was travelling from Kovalam to Kelambakkam when Siva, who was allegedly speeding, lost control of the car near the Padur Bypass road while making a turn. This caused the vehicle to overturn and flip several times.

The accident resulted in severe injuries for all five students. Swetha, Pavithra, and Lingeshwaran died instantly at the scene, while Caroline succumbed to her injuries in the hospital. Siva was rushed to Chengalpattu Government Hospital, where he received treatment.

Passersby, who witnessed the accident, alerted the authorities, who arrived quickly. The bodies of the deceased were transported to Chengalpattu Government Hospital for postmortem examinations.

This tragic incident has left the community in mourning, with the private law college and the families of the victims deeply affected by the sudden loss of these young lives. The police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the accident.
