Following reports of sexual harassment near the Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS) Mumbai campus, Dr Meena Chintamaneni, Pro-Vice-Chancellor of NMIMS University, assured that the institute is committed to ensuring a secure environment for all students.

In a statement released on August 23, Dr. Chintamaneni emphasized that student safety, particularly for females, is a top priority.

The statement highlighted various safety measures, including comprehensive CCTV coverage, strict access controls, dedicated female counselling resources, an active Anti-Sexual Harassment Committee, a vigilant Student Council, and regular police patrolling every 2-3 hours around the campus and hostels. Additional security is also deployed outside the college gates.

This response follows viral social media posts from the Instagram page @andheriwestshitposting, which detailed harassment incidents involving NMIMS female students. These posts intensified public and political scrutiny, particularly in the wake of the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital rape and murder case in Kolkata, as mentioned in a report by Edex Live.

Dr Chintamaneni urged anyone affected by harassment to come forward and reassured them that NMIMS University remains committed to upholding respect and equality, empowering and supporting female students.
