President Murmu Urges Focus On Research At Symbiosis Convocation

President Droupadi Murmu underscored the importance of fostering research within India's education system at the 21st convocation ceremony of Symbiosis International (Deemed University) in Pune on Tuesday.

She highlighted that the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 significantly emphasises research and innovation, encouraging students to explore solutions for national and global challenges.

Murmu expressed her confidence in the young generation's capabilities, emphasizing that they possess immense talent and skill. She urged graduates to leverage their knowledge to address pressing societal needs, particularly for marginalized communities, and to promote sustainability. "I am confident that the young generation is working hard towards the development of the country. People of the country possess a lot of talent and skill. I want you to understand the requirements of the society and using your knowledge, come up with solutions that can help in the development of the masses, especially those who are marginalised, and it can encourage sustainability," Murmu asserted, as quoted by Business Standard.

The President also noted the role of government schemes such as Start-Up India, Skill India, and Stand-Up India in supporting the aspirations of young people. These initiatives empower students and entrepreneurs to achieve their goals and contribute meaningfully to the nation’s progress. Murmu's address reinforced the crucial link between education, research, and national development, urging graduates to harness their academic insights to drive societal advancement and solve critical issues. Her remarks were a call to action for students to use their research capabilities to benefit their country and the wider world.
