Parents of a 31-year-old doctor, who was raped and murdered at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata on August 9, have accused authorities of forcing them into cremating her body despite their wishes to preserve it.

According to an exclusive NDTV report, the family faced immense pressure from hundreds of police officers, both at the hospital and their home, which left them feeling coerced into the cremation.

The victim's father alleged that a senior police officer attempted to offer them money while the body was still in their home and claimed that officers pressured him to sign a blank sheet of paper, which he refused by tearing it up.

Concerns about the police's handling of the case have intensified, with the family questioning why the hospital initially claimed the death was a suicide before any examination took place. Delays in the autopsy and the filing of an FIR, which was registered hours after the initial complaint, have further fueled the family's outrage. The victim's mother, standing with the protesting doctors at the hospital, has demanded that the protests continue until justice is achieved.

The case has sparked widespread outrage, with the family calling for accountability from both the police and hospital authorities for their actions following the tragic incident.
