Dr Sandip Ghosh, the former principal of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata, West Bengal, is under investigation by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for alleged financial misconduct during his tenure, as well as for his potential involvement in the murder and rape of a 31-year-old female doctor.

As the investigation unfolds, new reports about his involvement in a separate incident in Hong Kong over seven years ago have emerged.

In 2017, while participating in a clinical exchange program in Hong Kong, Dr. Ghosh was accused of sexual harassment following a dispute with a male nursing student. According to a report by News18, this led to a molestation trial, though he was ultimately acquitted of the charges. His time in Hong Kong was cut short, with the Yau Ma Tei hospital terminating his exchange due to the legal proceedings, as cited by the South China Morning Post (SCMP).

Although SCMP provided a detailed case account, neither News18 nor SCMP could verify all story elements independently. As noted in the SCMP report, Dr Ghosh attributed the entire situation to a misunderstanding during his trial.

This past incident has resurfaced amid the growing media focus on investigating Ghosh’s activities at RG Kar Medical College. The CBI is probing severe allegations of financial irregularities during his leadership, alongside his suspected role in a horrific murder-rape case. As scrutiny intensifies, these additional revelations add controversy to his already embattled career, raising questions about his past conduct and professional decisions.
