The National Medical Commission (NMC) has officially withdrawn its Letter of Permission for establishing a new medical college at Dr YSR Government Medical College Pulivendula in Andhra Pradesh.

Initially granted for the academic year 2024-25, the permission allowed for adding 50 MBBS seats. The decision was confirmed through an official notification issued by the NMC.

The notification cites concerns raised by the Directorate of Medical Education, Karnataka, regarding the college's infrastructure. According to the NMC, the Directorate reported that Dr YSR Government Medical College Pulivendula could not provide the necessary facilities on time due to delays in infrastructure development. As a result, the Medical Assessment and Rating Board (MARB) decided to retract the permission granted earlier.

The NMC's notification emphasizes that the decision to withdraw the Letter of Permission, initially issued on August 16, 2024, is effective immediately. Stakeholders are advised to take note of the withdrawal and make necessary adjustments. The revocation means that no admissions will occur at the college for the upcoming academic year, impacting prospective students anticipating enrollment.
