The School Education Department has released Rs. 36.43 crore as the first 50% grant for 26,387 schools in the state. This grant is part of the composite school grant for government and local body schools, KGBVs, Model Schools, Tribal welfare schools, and sports schools for the academic year 2024-25.

According to Telangana Today reports, the grant, released on Thursday by School Education director EV Narasimha Reddy, aims to support schools in purchasing essential stationery items, celebrating national festivals like Independence Day and Republic Day, and paying electricity bills and internet charges.

This development comes after concerns were raised about schools facing financial constraints, even struggling to buy basic supplies like chalk. The timely release of this grant is expected to alleviate some of these challenges and ensure a smoother academic year.

The department has also released Rs. 12.42 crore towards the physical education grant for the same 26,387 schools. This additional funding will help promote sports and physical activities in schools, contributing to the overall development of students.

Typically, the department releases the grant in June every year. However, this year's release is particularly significant, given the financial struggles faced by schools.

The Rs. 36.43 crore grant will be utilised to enhance the educational experience in 26,387 schools, with funds allocated to purchase essential stationery and supplies, celebrate national festivals like Independence Day and Republic Day, and cover utility expenses such as electricity bills and internet charges.

With this grant, schools can focus on providing quality education and a supportive student environment. The department's efforts to address the financial needs of schools are commendable, and this grant is a step in the right direction.
