Amid growing tensions following the tragic alleged rape and murder of a junior doctor, West Bengal Governor CV Ananda Bose has urged protesting doctors to call off their hunger strike. The strike, held by medical professionals demanding justice for the victim, has drawn widespread attention and escalated into state-wide protests.

Governor Bose made an emotional appeal during his visit to the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, where the hunger strike is being held. He expressed his deep sorrow over the heinous crime and assured the doctors that authorities are taking swift action to ensure justice.

According to Edex Live reports, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has officially taken over the investigation. The central agency re-registered the First Information Report (FIR) and is currently examining potential evidence tampering, a concern raised by the medical community. The West Bengal Doctors' Forum has voiced suspicions of attempts to destroy critical evidence in the case, further intensifying the outrage. These allegations prompted doctors across the state to demand a transparent and thorough investigation, calling for justice to be swiftly served.

The tragic death of the junior doctor, who was allegedly raped and murdered, has sent shockwaves throughout West Bengal's medical community. Medical professionals and students alike have staged protests demanding better safety measures and a resolution to the case. The incident has led to state-wide demonstrations, with doctors walking out of hospitals, medical students boycotting classes, and several organizations calling for reforms in campus security.

The Federation of Resident Doctors’ Association (FORDA) also joined the protests, though they later ended their strike after assurances from the Union Health Minister that their demands, including improvements in workplace safety and stricter security measures in medical institutions, would be addressed.

During his visit to the protesting doctors, Governor Bose also instructed the vice-chancellors of medical universities to bolster security on campuses. This move comes in response to concerns raised by the medical community regarding safety in the workplace. Bose emphasized that the security of healthcare professionals is paramount and assured that additional safety measures would be implemented.

As the CBI investigation progresses, medical professionals across the state are closely monitoring the developments. The protests, which have united doctors and students in demanding better security and justice for the victim, remain a focal point of public discourse. Though the hunger strike continues, there is hope that the Governor’s appeal, combined with the actions of the CBI, will lead to a resolution that satisfies the medical community’s demands for justice and security.
