Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu announced various reforms to enhance the state's education system and promote holistic development among students. Speaking at the annual function of Pinegrove School in Dharampur, Solan district, Sukhu highlighted a 17% increase in the education budget for the 2024-25 fiscal year compared to the previous year.
"Our government is making concerted efforts to make the students well-educated and sensitive. To make the students sensitive towards the environment and water conservation, it has been decided to install rainwater harvesting systems and grid-connected 'rooftop plants' in the day-boarding schools," Sukhu stated. He emphasized introducing rainwater harvesting systems and grid-connected rooftop plants in day-boarding schools to foster environmental consciousness among students.
Additionally, the Chief Minister unveiled the ambitious Dr. Y S Parmar Vidyarthi Rin Yojana, which allocates ₹200 crore to provide quality education for deserving students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds. This initiative aims to support students who aspire to pursue professional courses abroad, broadening their educational horizons.
Recognizing future job market demands, the government is also set to introduce courses in emerging fields such as artificial intelligence, data science, machine learning, and drone training at technical institutions. Sukhu noted that these programs are designed to enhance employment opportunities for youth, equipping them with essential skills for the modern workforce.
The government prioritises job fairs and campus interviews in all educational institutions to further support students in securing suitable employment. “We are committed to helping our young people find jobs that align with their skills and aspirations,” Sukhu added.
These initiatives position the Himachal Pradesh government as a leader in educational innovation, aiming to create a responsive and quality-focused education system that prepares students for local and global challenges.
