In preparation for the approaching board exams, the Haryana Education Department has introduced revised school timings across the state. Effective until February 15, this schedule adjustment aims to provide students with a conducive environment for focused study and exam preparation, reflecting the department’s commitment to supporting student performance.

Under this revised timetable, single-shift schools will now operate from 8:00 am to 2:30 pm. For schools that function in two shifts, the morning session is scheduled from 7:00 am to 12:30 pm, while the afternoon shift will run from 12:45 pm to 6:15 pm. This shift in hours is designed to reduce distractions and create an optimal study environment for students as they prepare for their exams.

The Haryana Board of School Education (HBSE) has finalised the examination dates for the upcoming board exams. Class 10 exams are slated to run from February 27 to March 26, 2024, while Class 12 exams are scheduled from February 27 to April 2, 2024. With the revised timings, students are expected to benefit from a structured routine that supports focused study sessions, enhancing their preparation during this critical period.

A spokesperson from the Haryana Education Department stated that the revised school hours were implemented to allow students the best possible conditions for study, free from unnecessary distractions. This initiative aims to ensure that students can concentrate fully on their academic work, thereby promoting improved performance during the board exams. The government is prioritising students' educational needs to create an environment that balances both learning and examination preparation.

In light of the revised timings, parents have raised concerns regarding logistical arrangements, particularly around transportation and after-school care. The Haryana Education Department has responded by assuring parents that necessary measures will be put in place to ensure students’ safety and convenience. School administrations across the state have been briefed to make suitable arrangements that address these logistical needs, reinforcing the department’s emphasis on safety and support for families.

This revision of school hours reflects the Haryana government’s dedication to fostering academic achievement among students, particularly during board exam season. As exam dates draw closer, students, parents, and educators remain aligned in their focus on achieving excellence. The adjusted school timings underscore the importance of academics and underscore the government’s proactive approach to supporting students’ educational journeys during a pivotal time in their academic lives.
