The National Law School of India University (NLSIU) Bengaluru has announced the revised seat matrix for its prestigious 5-year B.A., LL.B. (Hons.) program, applicable for the 2025-26 academic year. This updated framework outlines the total intake capacity, reservation categories, and fee structure for prospective students applying through the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) 2025.
According to the revised seat matrix, NLSIU will admit a total of 300 students for its undergraduate law program. The allocation includes reservations for Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), Other Backward Classes (OBC), Economically Weaker Sections (EWS), Persons with Disabilities (PWD), and women, reflecting the university’s commitment to inclusivity and diversity.
One of the significant features of the revised seat matrix is the 25% reservation for students from Karnataka. To qualify for this category, candidates must have completed a stipulated minimum number of years of education within the state. This initiative aligns with the university’s efforts to cater to the local population while maintaining its national standing as a premier legal education institution.
Admissions to the 5-year B.A., LL.B. (Hons.) program are exclusively based on CLAT 2025 scores. The program continues to uphold its reputation as one of India’s most sought-after law degrees, attracting students from across the country.
The fee structure for the first year has been set at approximately ₹4.13 lakhs for general category students, while candidates from SC/ST categories will be required to pay around ₹4.09 lakhs. This slight variation underscores the institution's commitment to providing accessible education to underrepresented groups.
The release of the revised seat matrix marks a significant step toward expanding opportunities in legal education for a diverse pool of candidates. By incorporating provisions for various social categories and introducing a Karnataka-specific reservation, NLSIU reaffirms its commitment to fostering an inclusive academic environment.
The revised seat allocation has been well-received as it aims to balance regional representation while continuing to attract talent nationwide. Aspiring law students are encouraged to review the seat matrix and eligibility criteria as they prepare for the upcoming CLAT examination.
