BPSC Exam Protests Escalate in Patna, Prashant Kishor Draws Criticism

Protests over the alleged question paper leak in the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) 70th preliminary examination turned violent today, as thousands of aspirants clashed with police in Patna. The unrest has intensified demands for a re-examination and highlighted growing discontent among students.

The protest began as a peaceful demonstration but escalated when police deployed lathi-charges and water cannons to disperse the gathering. The aspirants claim they were met with undue force, accusing authorities of suppressing their legitimate demands for transparency and accountability.

Amid the chaos, political strategist and Jan Suraaj Party founder Prashant Kishor arrived at the scene, only to face backlash from the protesters. Students criticized Kishor for his perceived absence during the initial crackdown and accused him of political opportunism. 

In response to the unrest, police registered an FIR against Prashant Kishor and over 700 others, including coaching center owners, for allegedly inciting the protest and disrupting public order. Protesters, however, insist their actions were peaceful and accuse law enforcement of excessive brutality.

The aspirants are demanding a complete re-examination, alleging a widespread leak of the BPSC 70th preliminary examination paper. The protest has garnered widespread attention, with opposition leaders and activists condemning the government's handling of the situation. Many have called for a swift and impartial investigation into the alleged leak to restore trust in the examination system.

In response, the Bihar government has announced a probe into the matter, promising strict action against those involved. However, skepticism remains high among the protesters, who believe the government’s assurances are insufficient.

The streets of Patna remain tense, with demonstrators continuing to rally for their demands. Police have intensified their presence in the area, raising concerns about further clashes.
