Gate marking scheme 2025 released: Complete exam pattern and evaluation criteria

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) has released the official marking scheme for GATE 2025, providing important details on the paper pattern and evaluation criteria for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE). This announcement is crucial for candidates preparing for the exam, as it offers clarity on how the exam will be conducted and how their performance will be evaluated. The GATE exam is a significant entrance test for postgraduate engineering programs and plays a pivotal role in securing jobs in public sector undertakings.

The GATE 2025 exam will feature three types of questions: Multiple-Choice Questions (MCQs), Multiple-Select Questions (MSQs), and Numerical Answer Type (NAT) questions. Each question type has specific marking rules. For MCQs, candidates will earn 1 mark for a correct answer but will face a 0.33 marks deduction for incorrect answers. On the other hand, MSQs and NAT questions will award 1 mark for each correct answer, with no negative marking for wrong answers in these categories.

The GATE 2025 exam will last for a total of 3 hours and will be graded out of 100 marks. The exam is divided into two main sections: General Aptitude (GA) and a Technical Section. The GA section will consist of 10 questions totaling 15 marks, while the technical section will comprise 55 questions worth 85 marks.

The exam is scheduled to take place on February 3-4 and 10-11, 2025, with the result declaration expected on March 16, 2025.
