Union Budget 2025: ₹500 Crore Boost for AI Centers as Education Sector Gets Major Push

The Union Budget 2025, presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, has allocated significant funding to the education sector, emphasizing innovation, scientific research, and skill development. The budget introduces major initiatives aimed at strengthening India's educational infrastructure, with a particular focus on artificial intelligence (AI), medical education, and technological advancements in schools and higher education institutions.

One of the standout announcements is the ₹500 crore allocation for the establishment of AI centers of excellence in educational institutions across the country. Further enhancing higher education, the government has announced an investment in infrastructure for 6,500 additional students in the five new IITs established after 2014. Other key initiatives in the budget include the launch of the National Institute of Food Technology, Entrepreneurship, and Management in Bihar, which will support the growing food processing industry. Additionally, the National Manufacturing Mission has been introduced to promote clean technology manufacturing, supporting industries such as solar cells, electric vehicle batteries, and wind turbines.
