As CBSE gears up for the academic seasons ahead, big changes are on the horizon for students. In the upcoming 2023-24 session, the Board is shaking things up by ditching answer books featuring tables in the Class 12 Accountancy paper. This move aims to streamline the exam format and ensure consistency across subjects. Additionally, compartment exams are getting a makeover, now known as supplementary exams, following recommendations from the NEP 2020. These changes are set to roll out soon, with results expected by August.
But that's not all. CBSE is also supporting student-athletes and participants in national and international events. Special exams will be introduced for those who can't attend the regular Class 10 and 12 exams due to their commitments in sports or Olympiads. It's a move that shows CBSE's commitment to accommodating the diverse needs of students and promoting a healthy balance between academics and extracurricular pursuits. Looking ahead to the 2024-25 session, there's a buzz about the possibility of twice-yearly board exams. Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan hinted at this, suggesting that students could retain their best scores. However, a formal announcement is still pending, leaving students and educators eagerly awaiting confirmation.
In another bid to empower students, CBSE is expected to shake up language study requirements and Class 11 and 12 subject choices. Two languages will soon become mandatory, with at least one being Indian. Plus, students will have more freedom in choosing their subjects, breaking away from the traditional stream-based model, as mentioned in The Indian Express.
