UNESCO is currently inviting submissions for the 2024 Unesco Prize for Girls' and Women's Education, an esteemed award aimed at honoring remarkable contributions to advancing girls' and women's education on a global scale.
This prestigious prize, valued at 50,000 US dollars (approximately Rs 41,65,000), aims to recognize individuals, institutions, organizations, or other entities that have demonstrated exceptional dedication to promoting girls' and women's education. Nominees must showcase operational projects spanning at least two years, showcasing scalability and tangible impact.
Aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly those addressing inclusive and equitable quality education and gender equality empowerment, the prize holds significant importance in fostering progress towards these objectives.
The selection process for the 2024 prize will involve the UNESCO Executive Board, in collaboration with the People's Republic of China, identifying two laureates, each of whom will receive the esteemed award of 50,000 US dollars.
Governments have the opportunity to nominate up to three candidates for the prize, with UNESCO encouraging member states to conduct transparent national selection processes and publicly announce their chosen nominees.

Higher education institutions (HEIs) are urged to facilitate the submission of applications to the Indian National Commission for Cooperation with UNESCO (INCCU) by April 30, 2024. INCCU will then review and forward recommended applications to UNESCO by the final deadline on May 24, 2024.
