The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has announced plans to reduce textbook prices starting in 2025. This initiative aims to ease the financial burden on parents and provide quality educational resources to students nationwide.

The decision, led by Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, aligns with the government’s efforts to improve the accessibility of education for all. To facilitate the price reduction, NCERT will significantly increase its annual printing capacity from 5 crore to 15 crore textbooks. This expansion is expected to lower production costs without compromising the quality of materials.

Alongside affordability, NCERT is also focused on aligning textbooks with the new National Curriculum Framework (NCF). Updated textbooks for classes 9 to 12, reflecting modern educational priorities, are scheduled to be introduced for the 2026-27 academic session. These updates aim to improve content relevance and ensure students are equipped with contemporary knowledge and skills.

The initiative marks a pivotal move in the government’s strategy to create an inclusive educational environment, particularly benefiting students from economically weaker backgrounds. Lower textbook prices will not only reduce financial strain on families but also ensure more equitable access to standardized learning resources.

The expanded printing capacity will allow NCERT to meet growing demands and maintain uninterrupted supply across schools. This strategic shift reflects a broader commitment to strengthening India’s education infrastructure in alignment with the goals of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.

Aimed at transforming the country's education system, the Indian government has revealed plans to shift the focus from exam-centric coaching to a more holistic approach to learning. Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan shared the government's vision to create an education system that nurtures all-round development and prepares students for life beyond academic tests.

The government has introduced several initiatives to realize this vision. One such initiative is the National Professional Standards for Teachers (NPST), aimed at enhancing teachers' personal and professional growth. This is complemented by the National Mission for Mentoring (NMM), which will offer digital mentoring sessions to help educators refine their skills and methodologies.

Another key aspect of the government’s overhaul is the promotion of early childhood care and education. To support this, the government is developing 52 primers in various Indian languages to ensure greater accessibility and inclusivity. The government is also focusing on upgrading District Institutes of Education and Training (DIETs), aiming to enhance teacher training and improve the overall education infrastructure at the grassroots level.

The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Lucknow has unveiled an Executive Certificate Programme in Fintech, Risk Management, and Banking. This six-month course is designed to equip professionals with the necessary skills to navigate the rapidly changing fintech landscape and manage risks within the banking and financial sectors.

The program, which combines online and offline classes, is open to graduates with at least two years of work experience. It aims to enhance participants' understanding of fintech, risk management, and banking, while developing their knowledge of financial markets, instruments, and regulations. Additionally, the course focuses on fostering strategic thinking and decision-making skills, crucial for navigating the complexities of the financial world.

The curriculum is structured to cover key areas such as fintech and digital payments, risk management and analytics, banking and financial markets, financial regulations and compliance, and strategic management and leadership. This comprehensive approach ensures that professionals gain a well-rounded understanding of the sector.

The course fee is ₹3.5 lakh (exclusive of taxes), and the application deadline for interested candidates is January 15, 2025. Upon successful completion of the program, participants will receive an Executive Certificate from IIM Lucknow, marking their achievement and enhancing their professional qualifications.
