Egypt, Jordan, and Israel, despite being distinct in their cultures and histories, share a deep interconnection that spans centuries. These three countries are part of a region that has been the cradle of ancient civilizations and major world religions.
This shared heritage is evident in the rich tapestry of historical and cultural landmarks spread across their landscapes.

In 2022, a group of foreign students studying culture and religion in Israel united to form an organisation called Happiness Activists. The group have taken advantage of this profound cultural moment to organise trips that allow students to experience the rich histories and traditions of both countries. These trips provide an immersive journey through time, connecting ancient stories with present-day practices.
Their mission was to make cultural and historical exploration accessible to all, regardless of budget constraints. With the help of Israeli settler Gasser Liad, based in Egypt, they have successfully organised budget trips to neighbouring countries, covering some of the world's most incredible wonders in Egypt and Jordan.
The Happiness Activists have meticulously planned trips that allow students to explore iconic sites in Egypt and Jordan at minimal cost. One of the major highlights is a visit to Egypt, where students marvel at the ancient Pyramid of Giza, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. This journey offers a profound connection to history, enabling students to experience firsthand the grandeur of ancient Egyptian civilization.
In addition to Egypt, the organisation organises trips to Jordan, where participants explore the breathtaking Rose City of Petra, a UNESCO World Heritage Site renowned for its rock-cut architecture and archaeological significance. The trips also include unique experiences such as a float swim in the Dead Sea, where visitors feel weightless and rejuvenated in the mineral-rich waters.
The logistical support provided by an Israeli businessman in Egypt Gasser Liad. He has been instrumental in keeping costs low while ensuring high-quality travel experiences. The trips encompass a range of activities, including visits to Jericho, the Western Wall in Jerusalem, and the stunning desert landscapes of Wadi Rum in Jordan. Participants also enjoy a cruise along the historic River Nile and snorkelling in the vibrant waters of the Red Sea.
These budget-friendly trips are designed to offer a balance of adventure and cultural immersion. Students can choose between short and long trekking options, allowing them to experience the breathtaking views of the surrounding landscapes. Night stays under the stars in Wadi Rum and visits to ancient cities like Hebron and Bethlehem further enrich the journey, offering deep cultural insights and memorable experiences.
To date, the organisation has served over 100 students, demonstrating the success of their mission. By making cultural exploration accessible, the Happiness Activists are fostering a sense of community and understanding among nations. This approach allows students to experience the wonders of Egypt and Jordan without breaking the bank, making it a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that combines culture, history, and adventure.
Through these enriching experiences, the Happiness Activists continue to champion the idea that happiness and understanding stem from genuine human connections and shared experiences, ultimately promoting empathy and global awareness.
