Coming as a relief to students, Arunachal Pradesh state government released ₹111.11 crore in scholarships for 40,090 students for the 2024-25 academic year. The step is a reflection of the state's commitment to reducing the cost of education and easing the burden on families.

In a statement, the government confirmed that the scholarship amount will be credited in the beneficiaries' bank accounts within the next five days, pending technical clearance via the National Scholarship Portal (NSP).

As of now, 45,125 students have been enrolled under the scheme. This includes 5,035 students whose scholarship was cleared during earlier phases. The government also stated that scholarship of 2,796 students couldn't be processed due to technical issues in their bank accounts. These students have been directed to resolve the issues with their banks at the earliest so that there is no delay.

The timely release is in accordance with the promises made by Education Minister Pasang Dorjee Sona and Chief Minister Pema Khandu during the Golden Jubilee Celebration of Arunachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly. The two ministers had promised to provide sustained support to education through specially targeted financial benefit schemes and online release transparency.

The scholarship scheme is likely to highly favor economically weaker section students, enabling them to continue higher studies without any break. Officials in the education department think that the scheme will highly enhance the rate of retention, especially in tribal and remote regions of the state.

This new installment is part of a broader effort by the government of Arunachal to narrow educational gaps and invest in young people. With over ₹111 crore disbursed, it is one of the highest single-year scholarship disbursements in the state's history.
