Incidents of unrest and security concerns rattle Delhi University's sprawling campus as the city gears up for the crucial Lok Sabha elections. On Thursday, May 23, authorities reported the discovery of posters advocating a boycott of the upcoming polls plastered across various points within the university premises.

Promptly, two First Information Reports (FIRs) were filed in response to this unsettling development, as confirmed by police officials.

With all seven Lok Sabha seats in the capital set to go to the polls in the imminent phase on May 25, tensions are running high. However, amidst the electoral fervor, another cause for alarm arose on the same day. Two colleges affiliated with Delhi University were shaken by an anonymous call, threatening potential explosions. Lady Shri Ram College and Sri Venkateswara College were the targets of these ominous warnings, prompting swift action from the authorities. Fire tenders and a contingent of Delhi Police swiftly mobilized to the scene to assess the situation.

Thankfully, investigations swiftly concluded that the threats were unsubstantiated, with the Delhi Police later confirming the calls to be bogus. "There is nothing to worry about," reassured an official statement from the Delhi Police, alleviating fears of any imminent danger.

These incidents follow a recent pattern of security concerns in the capital. Just a day earlier, on May 22, the Delhi Police reported an email received by the Police Control Room in North Block, signaling the presence of a bomb. While such threats have become a cause for heightened vigilance, authorities are working diligently to ensure the safety and security of all citizens, particularly in the lead-up to significant events like elections.

Earlier in April, the Delhi High Court had demanded a comprehensive status report from the AAP government concerning a spate of hoax bomb threats targeting several private schools across the capital, underscoring the gravity of such security breaches.

As Delhi remains on edge amidst these turbulent times, authorities remain vigilant, striving to maintain peace and security across the city.
