The Climate Change Media Partnership (CCMP), spearheaded by Internews’ Earth Journalism Network (EJN) and the Stanley Center for Peace and Security, is thrilled to announce the CCMP COP29 Reporting Fellowship Program.

This prestigious fellowship offers an unparalleled opportunity for journalists interested in covering the 29th United Nations Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP29). Scheduled to take place in Baku, Azerbaijan, from November 11-22, 2024, this program is the largest climate change reporting fellowship available to media students globally.

Since its inception in 2007, the CCMP has facilitated the attendance of over 500 journalists from low- and middle-income countries at the annual UN climate talks. This year, the CCMP COP29 Reporting Fellowship aims to bring up to 20 journalists from these countries to report in person from COP29, providing them with a unique platform to cover critical climate change issues.

The fellowship includes comprehensive support for the selected journalists. CCMP Fellows will travel to Baku, with their arrival scheduled for November 9, 2024, and departure on November 24, 2024. The fellowship package covers non-refundable economy-class airfare, accommodation, meals, travel medical insurance, and ground transportation costs related to the fellowship activities.

Applications for the CCMP COP29 Reporting Fellowship will be accepted from May 7 to June 6, 2024. Applicants must ensure their submissions are complete and on time, as applications received after the deadline will not be considered. The selection results will be communicated to the applicants in August 2024.

This fellowship presents a golden opportunity for aspiring journalists from low- and middle-income countries to gain firsthand experience in covering one of the most significant global events focused on climate change. By participating in the COP29 Reporting Fellowship, journalists will not only enhance their reporting skills but also contribute to raising awareness about climate change issues in their home countries.

To apply, journalists must demonstrate a strong interest in climate change reporting and have a background in journalism. The fellowship encourages applications from diverse backgrounds to ensure a wide range of perspectives at the COP29 conference.
