The General Engineering BTech program at the Indian Institute of Technology Mandi is designed to provide students with a flexible and forward-looking curriculum, preparing them for the evolving needs of the industry. Spanning four years, this innovative program challenges traditional approaches to engineering education and aims to shape the future of the field.

In the initial two years, students embark on a comprehensive exploration of engineering, covering core courses across various disciplines such as Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Data Science, and Computer Science. This foundation equips students with a broad understanding of engineering principles.

Following this, students have the opportunity to specialize in their areas of interest. While the program encourages students to explore options beyond IIT Mandi, it also offers the chance to enroll in courses provided by partner institutions and industries nationally and internationally. This exposure allows students to stay updated with the latest advancements in their chosen fields.

During the last two years of the program, students select a specialization aligned with their career goals. Supported by tailored courses, they may spend a year at a collaborating institute or industry, gaining hands-on experience.

IIT Mandi has established partnerships with prestigious institutions, offering a wide range of specializations. These partnerships include Dalarna University in Sweden, which offers specializations in Energy Engineering and Information Systems, the Central Manufacturing Technology Institute in Bengaluru, offering a specialization in Manufacturing, and the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) Kangra, which provides specializations in Fashion Design & Technology, Product Design, and Animation.
