Delhi University has announced a fee increase for all first-year undergraduate, postgraduate, and PhD programmes commencing in the 2024-25 academic year. This decision, approved by Vice Chancellor Yogesh Singh in June 2024, comes as the university prepares for the upcoming admissions cycle.
According to the revised fee structure, the first-year fee for the BTech programme has been raised by 3.70%, from Rs. 2.16 lakh to Rs. 2.24 lakh. Similarly, the cost for the five-year integrated law programme has been increased by 5%, now standing at Rs. 1.99 lakh, up from Rs. 1.90 lakh. B.El now replaces the four-year integrated Teacher Education programme. Ed has seen its fee rise to Rs. 57,400.
The PhD programme has experienced a substantial hike, with the overall fee increasing by 60.22%. Starting from the upcoming academic year, PhD scholars must pay Rs. 7,130, a significant increase from the previous cost of Rs. 4,450, as mentioned in Jagran Josh.
In addition to these changes, Delhi University has increased several components of the fee structure, including tuition fees, student welfare funds, development fees, facilities and service charges, and the Economically Weaker Section Support fund. Notably, the contribution share for the Delhi University Students Union has been removed from the revised fee structure.
These adjustments reflect the university's ongoing efforts to enhance educational facilities and support services, ensuring a robust academic environment for all students.
