The police have booked three unidentified men for allegedly stalking and harassing two female junior doctors from Maharaja Agrasen Medical College in Hisar, Haryana.
The incident occurred on August 23 in the Agroha area as the doctors returned to their hostel after concluding their shifts.
According to the complaint filed by one of the doctors, the men passed lewd remarks near the emergency department. When the doctors ignored them, the men began to follow them. Alarmed by the situation, the doctors raised an alert, prompting hospital security guards to rush to the scene. The men fled before they could be apprehended.
The college authorities immediately informed the police, who have since launched an investigation. CCTV footage from the area is being reviewed to identify the suspects, and residents have been questioned for any leads. The police official handling the case expressed confidence that the culprits would be caught soon.
This incident comes in the wake of heightened concerns over the safety of medical professionals, especially women, following the recent murder and rape of a medical student at RG Kar Medical College in Kolkata, West Bengal.
