All schools in the Panchkula district will remain closed for two days on October 4 and 5, 2024, in light of the upcoming State Assembly Elections. Deputy Commissioner Yash Garg announced the decision, emphasizing the importance of facilitating a smooth electoral process.
"In view of the assembly elections, a holiday has been declared for all schools, including both government and private institutions, in the district on these two days,” Garg stated.
In addition to the school closures, the district education officer and the district elementary education officer have been instructed to ensure compliance with the election regulations. Teachers assigned to election duty are required to report to their designated locations on October 4, where they will be escorted to various voting stations. This initiative aims to streamline the electoral process and ensure adequate staffing at polling places.
October is shaping up to be a month of festivities for students and teachers alike, with numerous holidays scheduled throughout. Notable dates include Gandhi Jayanti and Mahalya Amavasya on October 2, followed by a series of religious celebrations: Maha Saptami on October 10, Maha Ashtami on October 11, Maha Navami on October 12, and Vijaya Dashami on October 13. Additionally, Valmiki Jayanti and Lakshmi Puja (Bengali) will be observed on October 17, culminating in the highly anticipated Diwali festival on October 31.
