The government of Kerala launched four new books titled Parents with the Growing Child on October 18. Aimed at empowering parents with the knowledge and tools necessary to support their children's educational journey from pre-primary to higher secondary levels, the initiative is a testament to Kerala's ongoing commitment to innovative education.

State General Education Minister V. Sivankutty spearheaded the launch, emphasizing parents' vital role in their children's academic success.

These books are specifically designed for parents of students in government schools and cover various educational stages: Pre-Primary, Lower Primary, Upper Primary, and High School-Higher Secondary. However, they are more than just reading materials; they serve as the foundation for a structured parent education program developed by the Department of Education. This program will see trained teachers sharing the content with parents throughout the state, creating a collaborative learning environment.

The initiative acknowledges the importance of parental involvement in education. The books aim to foster greater engagement and participation in public education by addressing their concerns and aspirations. "By increasing active participation in public education, these books will play a crucial role in strengthening the state’s educational framework," the government stated in a press release.

As Kerala continues to pave the way for educational reform, this initiative is expected to bolster parental involvement, benefiting students and enhancing their learning experiences. By arming parents with the right resources and knowledge, Kerala reinforces its position as a frontrunner in the realm of public education, setting a precedent for other states to follow.
