All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has launched a Green Internship Program in partnership with the 1M1B Green Skills Academy and Salesforce. The initiative aims to create 100,000 internship opportunities by 2030 for students at AICTE-affiliated colleges and universities.

The program, inaugurated at AICTE Headquarters in New Delhi, will kick off with 10,000 internships in its first year, focusing on equipping students with practical sustainability skills through hands-on projects.

Arundhati Bhattacharya, CEO and Chairperson of Salesforce India emphasized the company’s commitment to a sustainable future. “Our association with 1M1B Green Skills Academy and AICTE reflects this commitment, offering students valuable hands-on experience in green technologies and sustainable practices,” she stated. The program is designed to prepare students for the jobs of tomorrow while accelerating India’s transition to a greener economy.

Interns will engage in various real-world projects, including energy-saving audits, implementing zero-waste systems, and integrating renewable energy solutions. The program strongly emphasises fostering a sustainability mindset among participants, supported by mentorship from industry leaders and innovative, gamified learning methods. Interns will also gain expertise in climate-related data intelligence and strategies for reducing carbon footprints.

AICTE Chairman Professor TG Sitharam highlighted the initiative's importance in cultivating eco-consciousness among students and equipping them for emerging roles in the green economy. Additionally, top-performing interns will receive certifications and awards, recognizing their contributions and achievements in sustainability. The Green Internship Program not only aims to prepare students for careers in the green sector but also seeks to instil a culture of sustainability within educational institutions across India.
