The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has officially closed the choice-filling process for the NEET UG 2024 stray vacancy round as of October 26, marking the final phase for securing undergraduate medical and dental seats for this academic year.
This closing round allowed candidates to compete for the remaining 1,184 unallocated seats across various institutions. Per the official schedule, MCC’s stray vacancy round registration was open for one day, starting October 25.
The MCC will conduct seat allocation for this round between October 26 and 28, with the final allotment results scheduled for release on October 29. Candidates who receive a seat must report to their assigned colleges from October 30 to November 5 to complete admission formalities, bringing the original versions of all necessary documents. Candidates must download their official allotment letters from the MCC’s website before visiting the assigned institution.
In a significant stipulation, candidates who forgo their allotted seat in this stray round will forfeit their security deposit and face a restriction from appearing in the NEET exam in 2025. Additionally, those who have already joined MCC’s Round 3 of counselling are ineligible for state quota counselling as their data will be shared with state authorities.
The stray vacancy round allocates 15% of seats in government medical and dental colleges, along with 100% in Deemed and Central Universities, ESIC, AFMC, AIIMS, and JIPMER. The NEET UG exam, held on May 5 this year by the National Testing Agency, took place in pen-and-paper format across 557 cities in India. Candidates are encouraged to regularly check the MCC’s official website for updates or additional information.
