An Indian student has tragically passed away in the state of Ohio, USA, with local authorities launching an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death, as announced by the Indian Consulate in New York on Friday, April 5.

The exact cause of death remains undisclosed at this time. Expressing deep condolences, the Indian Consulate conveyed the news of the demise of Mr. Uma Satya Sai Gadde, an Indian student in Cleveland, Ohio, through a post on X.

The Consulate assured that all possible support has been extended to the bereaved family, including arrangements for the repatriation of the deceased's remains to India at the earliest.

The incident occurs amidst a concerning trend of Indian students facing adversity in the United States.

In a recent case from March, a 25-year-old Indian student disappeared from the Cleveland area, prompting his family to seek assistance from the External Affairs Ministry after receiving a ransom call. Mohammed Abdul Arafat, hailing from Hyderabad, had been pursuing a Master's in Information Technology at Cleveland University since May 2023 but went missing on March 7, 2024.

Adding to the distress, an Indian student in Chicago was subjected to a violent attack in February, with the Indian Consulate in Chicago offering support to the victim, Syed Mazahir Ali, and his family.

Earlier incidents in January saw the tragic deaths of Neel Acharya, a student at Purdue University, and Vivek Saini, who was brutally attacked with a hammer by a homeless man in Georgia.
