Renowned Scientist Prof. Anil Kumar Tripathi Appointed As Director Of IISER Mohali

In a significant development, the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER), Mohali, has appointed Professor Anil Kumar Tripathi as its director for a five-year term. Prof. Tripathi, a distinguished figure in the biotechnology field, brings a wealth of experience garnered over four decades of research and teaching.

Having served as a senior professor in the School of Biotechnology at Banaras Hindu University (BHU) since 1990, Prof. Tripathi's academic journey is marked by illustrious achievements. He also held the prestigious position of Director at the Institute of Science, BHU, from February 2019 to January 2024, where he made significant contributions in both administrative and academic spheres.

Prof. Tripathi's expertise spans various domains, including bacterial genetics, functional genomics, systems biology, and synthetic biology. His prolific career is underscored by a remarkable publication record in leading national and international research journals.

Furthermore, Prof. Tripathi's stellar contributions have been recognized through numerous accolades and awards, including the esteemed J C Bose National Fellowship and the Dr. Rajendra Prasad Oration Award. His research endeavours have also been supported by prestigious fellowships from prominent science academies such as the Indian Academy of Science (IASc), Bangalore, Indian National Science Academy (INSA), and the National Academy of Sciences India (NASI), Allahabad.

With a track record of supervising 22 PhD theses and leading several research projects, Prof. Tripathi's appointment is poised to catalyze advancements in scientific research and education at IISER Mohali. His leadership stint at the Central Institute of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants (CSIR-CIMAP) from February 2014 to January 2019 further underscores his administrative acumen and visionary leadership.
