A tragic incident has rocked Mahim in Mumbai as a 23-year-old alumnus of the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur allegedly died by suicide in his flat, according to a report by PTI.

The deceased, identified as Rohan Kumar Jha, was found hanging from a ceiling fan in the kitchen of his residence near Sithladevi Temple on the evening of Wednesday, May 8. Jha, originally from Patna, Bihar, had pursued an MBA after completing his studies at IIT Kanpur and was employed in an insurance firm, earning a substantial salary.

Upon receiving the distressing news, authorities rushed to the scene and transported Jha to Sion Hospital, where medical professionals pronounced him dead on arrival. The Mahim police station official stated that an investigation into the circumstances surrounding Jha's death is currently underway, with inquiries being made among his acquaintances, relatives, and associates.

Despite thorough searches, no suicide note has been recovered from the premises. Following standard procedure, the body has been handed over to Jha's family members. The incident has left the community shocked and saddened, highlighting the importance of mental health awareness and support systems.
