Over 25,000 teachers and non-teaching staff of West Bengal have planned a collective protest in Kolkata following the cancellation of their appointments by the Supreme Court on the basis of mass malpractices and irregularities that occurred during the recruitment process under the 2016 School Service Commission (SSC) selection process. The protest, going on currently at Shahid Minar in Kolkata and other well-known places, is a relay hunger strike and sit-in demonstration.
