The Bihar government has formed a three-member team to visit Bhopal and evaluate the feasibility of imparting medical education in Hindi, according to a health official.
This initiative aims to explore the potential for medical studies to be conducted in the Hindi language, thereby making medical education more accessible to a larger section of the population.
The team, mandated to submit its findings by June 5, will embark on a two-day visit to Bhopal. During this visit, they will engage with relevant officials and examine various aspects of teaching medical courses in Hindi, as per the directive issued by Pratyaya Amrit, Bihar’s additional chief secretary of health. This directive was reported by the Hindustan Times.
The team includes Rajesh Kumar, who oversees human resources at the State Health Society, Bihar, Dr. Mithilesh Pratap, the academic dean at the Bihar Health Sciences Medical College, and Dr. Devendra Prasad, the head of the clinical pathology department at Patna Medical College Hospital (PMCH). Notably, the official order mistakenly referred to the clinical pathology department as the “medical” pathology department.
This initiative reflects Bihar’s commitment to improving educational accessibility and adapting to linguistic needs, and the findings of this visit are anticipated to guide future policy decisions regarding medical education in the state.
