It is the World Optometry Day today, March 23, 2026, the world-wide celebration of the unsung heroes of the eye care profession, who enable millions of people to view the world through a clear lens. With the global community coming together to celebrate optometrists, Centurion University of Technology and Management (CUTM) stands tall in the Department of Optometry, which is making actual changes in eye health in India. This day is a reminder of how talented professionals can make the foggy dreams come true in the form of crystal-clear futures, one eye check at a time.

What is Optometry?

Optometry is the science of the eye and vision care, which is not merely about the spectacles. Optometrists conduct a thorough eye examination, identify early symptoms of such illnesses as glaucoma or diabetic retinopathy, prescribe corrective lenses or contact lenses, and even lead the vision therapy. The demand of trained optometrists in India has never been higher, as more than 500 million people face problems with their vision, which is due to the increased screen time, diabetes, and aging population.

According to the World Health Organization, 2.2 billion individuals in the world are vision impaired with one billion of these cases being preventable. This crisis is being highlighted by World Optometry Day, which calls for more access to eye care in areas such as rural Odisha, where CUTM is well established.

Centurion University’s Department of Optometry

It was founded in an attempt to reduce the discrepancy between classroom education and practice in the real world, and it provides a state-of-the-art B.Optom course accredited by the All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE). In the first year students are plunged into practical training on the use of high-tech equipment such as autorefractors, slit lamps, and fundus cameras. The curriculum incorporates anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, and low-vision rehab so that the graduates are prepared to work in clinics, hospitals, or even optical chains such as Lenskart.

What sets CUTM apart?

Their model of Work-Study in which half of the study occurs in the field at collaborating eye hospitals and optical companies. This implies no heavy debt and job search after the graduation-students make money in the process of studying. Pros are mentored by faculty, many of whom have international qualifications through organizations such as the World Council of Optometry. The last highlights are community camps that screened more than 5,000 eyes in tribal areas last year, fitted free specs and 200+ cases that required urgent care. According to the Vice-Chancellor Prof. Deepak Kumar Sahoo, optometrists are not just degree holders, but change-makers who brighten lives.

Optometry Course at CUTM

To the future students of Bengaluru, Hyderabad or even elsewhere, the optometry course at CUTM can be the gateway to high paying careers. The salaries begin between 3-5 lakhs per year and can reach 10 lakhs in case of experience. The eyewear market in India has reached 25,000 crore (estimated to increase 15 percent annually) and the demand is soaring. Either looking at private practice or research, this field is stable and influential.

On this World Optometry Day, CUTM restates its commitment: a brighter and clearer tomorrow to everyone. Register today through their site and become a part of the vision revolution. Good eyes today translate to a better India tomorrow.

The harvesting of honey is also explained. Participants will be able to obtain good honey from beehives without killing the bees.

The department of agriculture at Maya Devi University has scheduled the workshop. The workshop provides an understanding of how honey farming takes place. From Hives to Agri-Business

The workshop provides an understanding of how beekeeping has commercial potential. Participants will be able to turn their small-scale honey farming into an agri-business. The workshop provides an understanding of how beekeeping and honey farming support sustainability.

Honey farming only needs basic equipment and land space, which is advantageous to rural entrepreneurs. The training also helps students and farmers grasp the market need for natural and organic honey products.

Why University Workshops Matter

The gap between knowledge and practical skills is filled by such training programs. Students studying agriculture benefit from the training as they can apply the knowledge gained to real-life situations after graduating. Farmers also benefit as they learn new ways to support their families.

Universities are also instrumental in this training as they provide training that leads to job creation and the development of rural communities.

The training is also essential as it encourages the adoption of sustainable farming techniques. Honey farming is essential as bees are essential to the ecosystem as they promote biodiversity.

This workshop is providing clear and practical steps to students of Maya Devi University in starting honey farming as a business or more. It is indeed a good initiative by the university keeping in mind the fast-evolving world.
