The University of Melbourne has once again showcased its academic excellence by securing the 13th position in the prestigious Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings 2025. This remarkable achievement not only solidifies the University's standing as a premier institution within Australia but also underscores its global reputation.

In the latest QS rankings, the University of Melbourne witnessed significant improvements across various metrics, particularly in Sustainability and Employment Outcomes, as well as in Academic and Employer Reputation, and International Research Network. This reflects the institution's commitment to delivering high-quality education and fostering impactful research endeavors.

Central to the University's success is its enduring collaboration with esteemed institutions in India over the past 16 years. These collaborations encompass a wide array of initiatives, including joint research ventures, educational programs, student and staff exchanges, and joint PhD offerings through the Melbourne India Postgraduate Academy. The recent introduction of the Bachelor of Science dual degree program further enriches academic opportunities for students from both nations.

Vice-Chancellor Professor Duncan Maskell expressed pride in the University's upward trajectory, emphasizing the global readiness of its graduates. He attributed this readiness to the institution's continuous efforts to enhance its academic offerings and engagement opportunities for students.

The University's ties with the Indian community in Australia, the second-largest and fastest-growing overseas-born group, are of particular significance. With over 1400 University of Melbourne alumni residing in India, active engagement through various avenues such as events, volunteering, and philanthropy highlights the strong bonds between the institution and its alumni.

Recent initiatives, including the Melbourne India Postgraduate Academy conference and the establishment of the Melbourne Global Ambassadors Program in India, further strengthen ties between the University and its Indian counterparts. Additionally, the expansion of the Indian Schools Engagement Program aims to support underrepresented students in over 100 schools, with a goal to reach 50,000 students by the end of 2024.
